HAVING large families should be frowned upon as an environmental misdemeanour in the same way as frequent long-haul flights, driving a big car and failing to reuse plastic bags, says a report to be published today by a green think tank.
Strange!
"The British fertility rate is 1.7. The EU average is 1.5. Despite this, Professor Guillebaud says rich countries should be the most concerned about family size as their children have higher per capita carbon dioxide emissions"
I have heard it said with admiration by friends how 4 or 5 children are not enough for Pakistanis and women of Arabian peninsula.
This is a 'loaded' problem.
Any way here,I post a recent painting of mine.I did this in oil on canvas. I was inspired by an interview of "Kamalasurayya" nee "Kamala Das" more famous as Madhavi Kutty on the TV ,a few days before she left for Pune, in disgust with Malayalees and their petty minds:). She said she looks forward to playing with her grand daughter,'Nayanthara' is her name I think.
I wish Madhavi Kutty all luck and fun.
"The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life,by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later when a stranger looks at it,it moves again, since it is life." So said Williamson Harrison Faulkner and this is part of my inspiration too. I aspire to create art that will be enjoyed by generations to come.
